Mabon is a great time for bonfires, rich foods and hot drinks. Activities for MabonĪs with all festivals, celebrating, making merry and eating yummy foods is the main focus and goal. Use this time to finish any old projects you have laying around as well as planning new projects and goals to work on over the next few seasons. It’s the time to embrace who you are and who you want to become. Over all, Mabon’s focus is on being thankful and celebrating the abundance in your life. And we realize how vitally important it was to have that garden and crops otherwise there was no food for anyone. Having a Farm and working to be a self sufficient homestead means that when Mabon approaches, we can understand why our Ancestors were happy to have a break after gardening, harvesting and preserving. For us it is even more important because we channel our ancestors through our work. (And don’t get me wrong, we still do celebrate those other holidays, just in a more relaxed fashion.)įollowing the seasons as they flow and ebb through the year is a very good way to be more in tune with Nature.

Falling on the Equinoxes and the Solstices with halfway points between each means that unlike celebrating Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years in less than 3 months time, there is time to focus and do small things to celebrate the seasons on their own. One of the upsides I’ve found of being Wiccan is that the Holidays are equally spaced. But it is also the death of those plants and vegetables which have been harvested from that garden.Therefore, Mabon is the balance of life and death or light and dark. The bounty you gather from your garden provides nourishment for you, family and friends. And Mabon is a great time to focus on that, with the quieting down of the season harvests and the knowledge that indoor and quiet time is approaching ( if you live in the northern Hemisphere and in the cold areas that is…lol)Īlthough many view the Harvest season as a celebration of life, it is also a celebration of death.
